- श्राद्ध कर्म करते समय जो श्राद्ध का भोजन कराया जाता है, तो ११.३६ से १२.२४ तक उत्तम काल होता है l
- गया, पुष्कर, प्रयाग और हरिद्वार में श्राद्ध करना श्रेष्ठ माना गया है l
- गौशाला में, देवालय में और नदी तट पर श्राद्ध करना श्रेष्ठ माना गया है l
- सोना, चांदी, तांबा और कांसे के बर्तन में अथवा पलाश के पत्तल में भोजन करना-कराना अति उत्तम माना गया है l लोहा, मिटटी आदि के बर्तन काम में नहीं लाने चाहिए l
- श्राद्ध के समय अक्रोध रहना, जल्दबाजी न करना और बड़े लोगों को या बहुत लोगों को श्राद्ध में सम्मिलित नहीं करना चाहिए, नहीं तो इधर-उधर ध्यान बंट जायेगा, तो जिनके प्रति श्राद्ध सद्भावना और सत उद्देश्य से जो श्राद्ध करना चाहिए, वो फिर दिखावे के उद्देश्य में सामान्य कर्म हो जाता है l
- सफ़ेद सुगन्धित पुष्प श्राद्ध कर्म में काम में लाने चाहिए l लाल, काले फूलों का त्याग करना चाहिए l अति मादक गंध वाले फूल अथवा सुगंध हीन फूल श्राद्ध कर्म में काम में नहीं लाये जाते हैं l

- The optimal time to offer meals during Shraaddh ritual is between 11.36 am to 12.24 pm.
- Shraaddh ritual conducted at Gaya, Pushkar, Prayag or Haridwar is considered ideal.
- Shraaddh ritual conducted in cow shed, temples or on river banks is considered ideal.
- On the day of Shraaddh, having or offering meals on gold, silver, copper or brass utensils is considered supremely ideal. Use of iron, earthen and other forms of utensils should be avoided.
- During Shraaddh, one must not remain agitated, hasten the ritual, invite large groups of people or call noted dignitaries. This draws the focus away from the ritual. Instead of offering the pious shraaddh sentiments with a noble intention, the procedure becomes commonplace due to show off.
- White, fragrant flowers should be used for the Shraaddh ritual. Red, blackish flowers should be totally abstained. Also, avoid use of mildly fragrant or bland flowers for this ritual.
