On passing away of someone
If someone living nearby passes away, you must try to do good for him. Always keep dry branches of Basil in your home. When someone living nearby passes away, place those dry branches of Basil on his lips, eyes, on body or on the chest and initiate the pyre with those branches. Irrespective of his sins, he shall be saved from ill omen and hell. If one cannot find dry branches, then place a garland of Basil leaves around his neck...then also he will be relieved from bondage of his past doings. Drop a few Basil leaves in his mouth. Sprinkle Basil water on him. Do kirtan of Hari Om... Om... Om.... But do not do the Hasya (laughter) after that. Hari AUM AUM... Shanti AUM ... You are a soul. You are omnipresent. You are not this body. Body changes with time. Soul remains as it is. AUM... AUM... Let the relatives of the departed read "Jeevan Mrutyu" book. Then the relatives must also say, that the dead person when he wakes up after two hours and 15 minutes, he watches his body just like everyone else. Then inform him. You are not this body..... You are the eternal soul. You are not the one who dies. Father, son, brother, neighbour, etc. all these names belonged to that body, yet you are unnamed. Body is visible whereas you are incorporeal. Body is a dead object in your absence Bhagu Bhai! ... say Bhagu Bhai passed away. AUM.. AUM... Then you have done great service to the dead person. You have done the great service of inducing the thought of Self knowledge in that person's thoughts. One who delivers Self Knowledge, he becomes the embodiment of God. Your soul is already an embodiment of God. Irrespective of anyone who passes away, even if it is your enemy, do not hold any grudges. Pray for his safe departure and good fortune.
